By ensuring we operate in a manner that supports each of the pillars, we protect the future of our reputation, supply chain and profit while ensuring our legacy will positively impact the four pillars.
Profits are the foundation to support our business success and growth. However, they must be achieved the right way. The blind pursuit of profit where our actions may negatively impact communities in which we operate, or seek to operate, will not be sustainable. Standards for labor practices and sensitivity of social issues within our global supply chain are monitored. We actively engage in programs within our local communities to support not-for-profit and charitable organizations, and promote and incentivize employees to participate in volunteer opportunities.
We are striving to reduce our impact on the environment while reducing our operating costs in ATX electronics production, the handling of e-waste and energy consumption.
RoHS and WEEE
ATX complies with the Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Directive 2011/65/EU) and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Directive 2012/19/EU) in the purchase and production of its products.
We are working toward the goal of zero landfill by 2020. This includes:
- Supporting material recovery from end-of-life products for reuse, refining, recycling or remarketing
- Using recyclable packaging material
- Implementing quality systems to reduce waste due to errors
- Eliminating paper-based records
- Using traditional recycling and waste reduction programs within our facilities
We also seek to reduce our annual energy consumption by:
- Targeting improved energy efficiency in new versions of released products
- Installing energy-efficient lighting and solar panels
- Using heating/cooling timers
- Providing facilities to store and charge pedal and e-bikes, encouraging commuting alternatives
- Incentivizing employees to car pool
The company we keep says a lot about who we are. Therefore, we will look to partner with suppliers who will share our sustainability focus, or who are willing to collaborate and work toward change to achieve our shared, common objectives. ATX regards the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) Code of Conduct as an initiative to comply with, and for ATX suppliers to acknowledge, implement and continuously improve within their factories in the countries in which they operate. To measure compliance, ATX has set out minimum standards and a scorecard to ensure a balanced evaluation of suppliers against: 1) cost, 2) sustainability, 3) quality, and 4) delivery objectives.
We are continuously working to build and promote a diverse and engaging culture inside ATX. This enables us to attract and retain the next generation of talent required to support our future success. It will mean developing both our existing talent pool, seeking new and innovative ways to develop a continual pool of talent through partnership with educational institutions, and ensuring there are no barriers to employment for any underrepresented category of employee.
In the years to come, it is inevitable that companies will be impacted, more and more, by global, social and environmental challenges that no single company, industry, government or non-governmental organization can address alone. Therefore, ATX seeks to partner with its suppliers, customers and networks to find collaborative solutions and share best practices to achieve long-term sustainability.
