Ultimate Guidebook for Finding Your Next-Gen Node Platform

White Papers

Cover of white paper

Is your current node platform built for the future?

A significant portion of the installed base of HFC nodes was not designed with the future in mind, and MSOs planning to evolve their networks to support the FDD, or Extended Spectrum, version of the DOCSIS 4.0 specifications need to start figuring out how, or even if, they can extend the capabilities of this critical element of their access networks.

That investigation starts with asking a set of critical questions to determine if your existing nodes are capable of supporting DOCSIS 4.0 and spectrum increases to 1.8GHz. Does your node offer the capabilities to house RPD modules? Will you need to replace the housing’s lid? What about support for third-party modules? Answering these and other questions posed in this document will provide MSOs with everything they need to know to take the next step on their next-gen node journeys.

  • Why some nodes are incapable of supporting frequencies beyond 1.2GHz
  • How to determine if your current node will support a third-party RPD module
  • Why seizure assemblies play a critical role in determining the future viability of a node
  • If you will need to move to an alternative node platform to support DOCSIS 4.0 and 1.8GHz
