SAN DIEGO, April 20, 2026 — As radio networks navigate increasing spectrum pressure, rising distribution costs and growing expectations for real-time audio delivery, ATX Networks is expanding its IP-based distribution strategy to help broadcasters modernize — without sacrificing prior investment.

Just prior to NAB 2026, ATX announced significant progress on a low-latency HLS audio solution that gives XDS™ customers a clear, practical path forward as the industry prepares for continued spectrum changes, including the FCC C-Band Spectrum Auction. Built on ATX’s widely deployed XDS‑PRO S receiver platform, the solution enables near-real-time IP audio delivery without costly forklift upgrades — protecting capital investments while improving operational performance.

Delivering Real-Time Impact Where It Matters Most

ATX’s low-latency HLS solution is currently achieving consistent end-to-end delays of approximately three seconds, with ongoing development focused on further reducing latency. These gains support tighter synchronization for live programming, breaking news, sports and other time-sensitive content — where immediacy directly shapes audience experience and operational efficiency.

Initial testing has focused on the XDS‑PRO S Platform, with early results indicating strong potential compatibility with the XDS‑PRO 1R. A beta release is planned for Q2, with full commercial availability to follow.

A Strategic Step Toward Cloud-Based Distribution

The low-latency HLS solution is a foundational element of ATX’s broader IP and cloud-enabled distribution strategy. Following the HLS rollout, ATX will advance its next-generation cloud-based distribution platform — introducing enhanced flexibility, expanded capabilities and future-ready receiver options — while maintaining compatibility with current XDS‑PRO S hardware so customers can adopt new services incrementally and keep upgrade costs predictable.

This phased approach gives broadcasters a clear migration path from satellite-dependent workflows toward hybrid and fully IP-based architectures, without disrupting existing operations.

Lowering Barriers to Modernization with Hardware as a Service

To further accelerate the industry’s transition to IP delivery, ATX has launched a Hardware as a Service (HaaS) initiative designed to address one of the most significant barriers to modernization: the large upfront capital expenditures traditionally required to upgrade distribution infrastructure.

The HaaS program reduces CAPEX by converting hardware, software and ongoing support into a flexible, subscription-based model, allowing broadcasters to modernize without major one-time investments. By easing financial constraints and improving cost predictability, ATX enables customers to adopt IP and cloud capabilities more quickly while aligning technology investment with operational and business needs.

ATX works closely with each customer to tailor HaaS offerings to their specific operational, financial and distribution requirements.
