ATX Networks Introduces Next-Gen Digital Optical Transport Solution

GigaWave Optical Hub empowers service providers to streamline operations and extend their broadband services

NASHVILLE, June 2, 2025 – Today at Fiber Connect 2025, ATX Networks, a global provider of broadband and media distribution solutions, announced the launch of the GigaWave® Optical Hub (O-HUB) — a new platform designed to help cable operators and internet providers modernize their networks, simplify operations, and bring high-speed broadband to rural communities.

Built as a future-ready replacement for the popular Cisco® GS7000 Optical Hub, ATX’s GigaWave O-HUB brings powerful new capabilities in a compact, rugged design. It’s built to support the industry’s shift to Distributed Access Architectures (DAA), helping providers reduce their need for large, expensive hubsites while improving network reliability and efficiency.

“The GigaWave Optical Hub gives service providers a smarter way to grow,” said Brad Nikkari, Vice President of Access Products at ATX Networks. “This hub allows services to be a consolidated back to a more primary hubsite, eliminating distance restrictions imposed by analog optics transport of the past.”

The GigaWave O-HUB is about more than efficiency — it’s also a key tool for closing the digital divide. With advanced signal amplification and fiber management, it helps providers extend broadband to underserved communities. It’s well-suited for both HFC and fiber (PON) networks and is a strong fit for providers participating in government-backed initiatives like the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF).

To keep networks up and running, even when something goes wrong, the platform includes smart failover features. If there’s a fiber cut or equipment issue, the GigaWave O-HUB can automatically switch to a backup (geographically diverse) path. It can work with a remote version of its optical switch to keep everything synchronized — ensuring smooth performance over distances of more than 100 kilometers.

Despite its small size, the GigaWave Optical Hub is packed with features:

  • High-density modular architecture
  • Up to four fiber amplifiers that boost signal strength across the C-Band
  • Two optical switches for path redundancy
  • Flat amplification and consistent performance across full C-Band
  • Supports 48+ channels at 100GHz space or 96+ channels across 50GHz spacing
  • Built-in monitoring and control
  • Optional dual AC/DC power supplies for redundancy
  • Compatibility with existing ATX and Cisco node enclosures, making upgrades easier and more cost-effective

ATX is showcasing the GigaWave Optical Hub along with the Areca Hybrid Supercapacitor Energy Storage Solutions at booth #1043 during Fiber Connect 2025 this week, June 1–4, in Nashville, Tennessee.
