Optical Switch

The GigaWave® O-HUB Optical Switch provides seamless optical path redundancy, ensuring service continuity during fiber cuts or signal degradation. Up to four switches can be installed in the hub base (space permitting).

Features

  • Fast optical switching

  • Auto-failover based on loss of composite optical power

  • Optional SYNC mode to align upstream/downstream paths across switches

  • Fully field-hardened
  • Auto/Manual modes
  • Prevent switch oscillations with Hysteresis and Wait to Restore settings

  • High and Low thresholds for composite optical input switch thresholds

  • Auto-calibrated input attenuator balances primary and secondary optical paths to maintain stable output power during switching, preventing SFP data loss or link drops

Solution: Distributed Access Architecture (DAA)

ATX designed the GigaWave Optical Hub, to enable cable operators to gracefully transition to a distributed architecture. A highly efficient and integrated solution, GigaWave enables MSOs to dramatically expand the capacity of access links, migrate to a Remote-PHY/MAC architecture, push RF generation deep into the network and replace expensive hubs.
