Charting the HFC Evolution in the DOCSIS 4.0 Era

The most revealing of all the datapoints uncovered by ATX’s fifth edition of its annual HFC evolution survey is that a near-unanimous universe of cable professionals believe that the cable industry has changed significantly since the introduction of DOCSIS 4.0. Whether it’s the increase in the number of technology options or the fierceness of the competitive landscape, the cable industry of 2025 bears little resemblance to the cable industry of 2019, the survey concludes.

Dig into the details of that transformation, as well as gain insight into what your peers are planning when it comes to evolving their HFC networks, by joining the upcoming webinar 2050 Project Survey Results & Analysis. ATX OSP experts will discuss findings from the 2025 edition of the annual survey including those related to DOCSIS 4.0 adoption, the impact of network intelligence and the pace and progress of MSOs’ HFC-to-FTTH migrations.

Attend the webinar to explore the survey’s key findings:

  • More than 30% of respondents believe that the HFC network will eventually support frequencies of 3GHz or higher
  • More than half (55%) of cable professionals say their companies will activate DOCSIS 4.0 in their HFC networks by the end of 2027
  • Nearly 20% of survey takers said that the expanded bandwidth capabilities of DOCSIS 3.1 diminished the importance, or at least the urgency, of migrating to DOCSIS 4.0
